Mechanisms (and excuses) for hiatuses and droppings The main mechanism for hiatuses and drops will be the low-level psychic powers each character develops (or is powercapped to) upon entering this world. Piloting Darts is an extreme mental stress, which frequently requires that the pilot be sedated in the medical bay for an uncertain period of time, or leaves them functional but so unsuited to a mission that the NPCs putting teams together won’t let them know about the mission. Even non-pilots can be affected when they spend substantial amounts of time near stressed pilots.
At the beginning of the game, there will be one option for dropping:- “They got psychic burnout from Dart-piloting or hanging around Dart pilots and needed to be put in a medically induced sleep state; everyone can see them napping peacefully”

- “Recon mission” or “Supply run”
As the game progresses past the Morning Star/Pericles phase, and characters explore more areas outside the ship, we’ll be open to the ideas of characters leaving the ships to become Plot-PCs (see Faction Switching) or just doing their own thing (“Taking a vacation on the moon,” “Reassigned to Antarctica,” “Yeah I’m moving to Mars,” “Spy mission back in a while!”) as drop and hiatus reasons.
Perma-drops by death are tentatively allowed, but will require mod approval.
